Citadele's radio share nearly tripled in a month - and the ad that drove it never says the rate

Market analysis

We pulled Latvia's Banking & Payments category for the last 30 days and set it against the 30 before. Citadele didn't just grow, it re-entered the conversation: a brand that barely registered a month ago is now the category's fourth-largest advertiser by spot count, and one of the fastest-growing names in the entire Latvian radio market, any category.
15.8% - Citadele's share of Banking & Payments spots, up from 4.7% a month ago
1,316 - Citadele's ad count this period, all in Banking & Payments
22 of 743 - Citadele's market-wide advertiser rank, up from an unranked 0.2% share

The category reshuffled, and Citadele pulled ahead of the pack
A month ago Luminor dominated Banking & Payments with 38.4% of the category's spots, more than double anyone else. In the last 30 days that lead collapsed to 19.55%, a 18.9-point drop, while Swedbank moved into first at 20.75% (+3.3pp). Inbank held steady at 19.08%. Citadele's jump, from 4.7% to 15.8% (+11.1pp), was the second-largest share gain in the category after SEB banka's own rise from 5.4% to 11.0%. Citadele now sits fourth, just behind the three largest retail banks.

One creative, 484 airings, and it never says the rate
Citadele's single most-aired spot this period ran 484 times, more than a third of the brand's entire radio output. The script opens with a direct question: "Vai tev ir iecere, ko plāno īstenot jau sen un kurai nepieciešams finansējums?" (Do you have something you've long planned to do that needs financing?), positions Citadele's consumer loan as a way to fund it, and closes with "Citadela LV" as the call to action. The mandatory borrowing-costs-money disclaimer is there, read in full. What isn't there: no interest rate, no fee, no loan amount, anywhere in the aired audio. Whatever the campaign's actual terms are, they live on the landing page, not on air.

A brand that was barely on the radar a month ago is now the category's fourth-largest advertiser.
From a rounding error to a top-25 name, market-wide
Zoom out past Banking & Payments and the size of the move is clearer. A month ago Citadele held 0.2% of all radio advertising in Latvia, across every category, every advertiser. Today it holds 0.8% and ranks 22nd out of 743 active advertisers, ahead of established names like K-Senukai, DEPO, and Virši. That's not just a category story, it's one of the larger single-brand swings in the market this period.
0.2% → 0.8% - Citadele's share of the entire Latvian radio market, market-wide rank 22 of 743, up from effectively unranked a month ago.
The method
This reads Banking & Payments for Latvia, 23 August to 21 September against 24 July to 22 August, ranked by spots and share of voice with period comparison, creatives read from the monitored ad library. The market-wide rank (22 of 743) covers every industry, not just Banking & Payments. Spotwise monitors actual broadcasts rather than station-reported logs, so figures reflect what aired, not what was booked or reported.
What it means if you sell or plan banking and lending radio
A brand can move from statistically invisible to a top-25 market advertiser in a month, on the strength of one creative repeated at volume, without a single number spoken on air. If a competitor's campaign is built the same way, would your read on the category catch it before the leaderboard already moved?
See who's actually leading your category on spots, share, and spend, not just the headline number, monitored from the actual broadcast rather than station-reported logs. Advertisers track it in Spotwise self-serve. Agencies track it for every client at once. This whole breakdown took one prompt. spotwise.ai
