The Insider's Guide to the Latvian Radio Market for RDE26

The Insider's Guide to the Latvian Radio Market for RDE26

This deep-dive market analysis explores the highly consolidated, fiercely competitive landscape of Latvian radio broadcasting in 2026. By examining the demographic shifts, dominant network formats, and the transition toward digital-first audio, visiting executives will understand exactly why Riga's fragmented media ecosystem became the perfect incubator for global ad-tech innovation.

Radiodays 2026 QnA

When you exit Arrivals, ignore the unbranded yellow taxis in the very first lane—they frequently overcharge tourists up to €50. Instead, cross to the second lane marked "Carshare," order a Bolt on your phone, and pay the standard €15–€20 fare to the city center.

Yes! If you don't want to take a Bolt, Riga's tram system is excellent. Tram Number 7 goes right from the city center directly past the ATTA Centre. You can buy a digital ticket on the Rīgas Satiksme app for €1.50.

Please do not try this. While it might look close on Google Maps, it is a 4.5km walk along a busy 6-lane highway (Krasta iela). Walking along the Daugava River in March feels like a freezing wind tunnel. Take a 7-minute Bolt ride instead.

No, Riga is an almost entirely cashless society. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless cards are accepted everywhere—from luxury restaurants to the smallest coffee kiosks. You likely won't need a single paper Euro during your trip.

Welcome to the Baltic "Grey Season." Expect freezing winds, unpredictable rain, and slush. Leave your suede shoes at home and pack waterproof, rubber-soled boots. Bring layers—it will be near-freezing outside, but the ATTA Centre is heavily heated.

If you want to party, yes. If you are a C-Level executive looking to sleep, no. The Old Town is full of noisy pubs and uneven cobblestones that will destroy rolling luggage. We highly recommend booking a hotel in the Quiet Centre (Klusais Centrs) for peace, quiet, and stunning Art Nouveau architecture.

Tipping is customary but not mandatory. A 10% tip for good service at restaurants and cafes is the standard. Always check your receipt first, as some higher-end restaurants automatically add a 10% service charge to the bill.

Not at all. Almost all hospitality staff, taxi drivers, and business professionals speak excellent English. However, knowing just two words goes a long way: Sveiki (Hello) and Paldies (Thank you).

Come say Sveiki to us at Booth 1A! We’ll pour you a proper coffee (or a local Latvian beer) and give you a live demo of how our Revenue AI is autonomously tracking competitor ads across the European radio market.

We are trusted by broadcasters worldwide
